Wie unterscheiden sich die kunstvollen Blumenarrangements des Ikebana von der stillen, zurückhaltenden Schönheit des Chabana in der japanischen Teekultur?
In dieser Veranstaltung erfahren die Gäste, was Ikebana und Chabana verbindet, worin sie sich unterscheiden und welche Rolle Blumen in der japanischen Teezeremonie spielen.
Bei Tee & Hamburg stellt die Ikebana-Künstlerin Yusui Uchiyama beide Formen vor und gibt Einblicke in ihre Ästhetik, Farbwirkung und kulturelle Bedeutung. Seit 1995 in der Sogetsu-Schule ausgebildet, sammelte sie in Tokio Erfahrung mit floralen Gestaltungen für Restaurants, für das renommierte Kaufhaus Shinjuku Isetan sowie in Workshops. In Deutschland vertiefte sie ihre Ausbildung bei Meisterin Kōsui Sawada bis zur Lehrerqualifikation. Heute leitet sie in Hamburg Ikebana-Kurse und gestaltet Blumenarrangements für offizielle Empfänge des Japanischen Generalkonsulats, etwa zum Geburtstag des japanischen Kaisers im Hotel Atlantic.
Begleitet wird der Abend mit Tee und Matcha von Mengqi Wang, Kuratorin von Tee& und Vermittlerin asiatischer Teekultur mit Schwerpunkt japanischer Teezeremonie.
Ein Abend für alle, die japanische Ästhetik, Tee, Blumen und die Kunst des bewussten Betrachtens erleben möchten.
Die Türen öffnen ab ca. 17:45 Uhr, der Vortrag beginnt kurz nach 18 Uhr. Der Eintritt ist frei, Spenden sind willkommen.

Tea & Ikebana – The Beauty of Flowers
How do the artful floral arrangements of Ikebana differ from the quiet, understated beauty of Chabana in Japanese tea culture?
At this event, guests will discover what connects Ikebana and Chabana, how the two forms differ, and the role flowers play in the Japanese tea ceremony.
At Tee& Hamburg, Ikebana artist Yusui Uchiyama will introduce both forms and offer insights into their aesthetics, use of colour, and cultural significance. Trained in the Sogetsu School since 1995, she gained experience in Tokyo creating floral designs for restaurants, the renowned Shinjuku Isetan department store, and workshops. After moving to Germany, she continued her studies under Master Kōsui Sawada, eventually obtaining her teaching qualification. Today, she leads Ikebana courses in Hamburg and creates floral arrangements for official receptions hosted by the Consulate-General of Japan, including the celebration of the Japanese Emperor’s birthday at Hotel Atlantic.
The evening will be accompanied by tea and matcha served by Mengqi Wang, curator of Tee& and a guide to Asian tea culture with focus on Japanese tea ceremony.
An evening for anyone wishing to experience Japanese aesthetics, tea, flowers, and the art of mindful observation.
Doors open at around 5:45 p.m.; the talk will begin shortly after 6:00 p.m. Admission is free, donations are welcome.
