Raummoden (Spatial Modes) by Sophia Leitenmayer at Galerie Oelfrüh presents a 16-channel DIY ambisonics installation that intertwines sixteen public spaces in 360° recordings to create a spatial composition. Sixteen improvising musicians encounter each other in a third-order 3D surround sound that allows urban listening situations to be experienced as sound architecture. The starting point is discussions about "nonaggressive music deterrents," invasive sound experiences, sonic weapons, and questions of sonic self-determination. The exhibition is accompanied by a vernissage, book presentation, and a concluding sound performance.
