Student Exchange Fair

Sonntag, 21. Februar 2016
Diversity, international understanding and learning in a global context are a matter of course at the International School of Hamburg (ISH), which will celebrate its 60th Anniversary next year. Befittingly, Germany’s very first international school will open its doors to the SchülerAustausch-Messe (Student Exchange Fair) for the second time. Organized by the Deutsche Stiftung Völkerverständigung, the event caters to the needs of families, students and educators who are interested in spending time abroad as well as in associated topics such as financing or legal matters. The Fair takes place at Hemmingstedter Weg 130 on Sunday, February 21st from 10-16:00. Admission is free.

No matter whether they decide to leave during their school years or after graduation: “Young people who want to go abroad have the agony of choice between many attractive options. The offers are very diverse, not least with regards to cost and performance. A careful comparison pays off in the end“, recommends Dr. Michael Eckstein, Chair of the Deutsche Stiftung Völkerverständigung.

This year’s Student Exchange Fair is the perfect opportunity to gather the information necessary for that comparison. Leading commercial exchange organisations and non-profit consulting firms inform visitors about school exchange, boarding schools, private schools, language holidays, au pair, colleges, holiday & summer camps, volunteering, internships and work & travel.

In addition to the fair, the programme for the day also offers numerous lectures by experts and those who are willing to share their own experiences. List of topics:

• Exchange students looking back at their time abroad
• Heading abroad after school
• Heading abroad during school
• Scholarships and other means of financing
• Studying at foreign colleges and universities
• How to find the right exchange organization

For good reasons the International School of Hamburg will be joining the Fair with ist own booth. “When students return from their time abroad they can maintain - and even expand - on the competencies and experiences they have gained there by switching to our school. With 750 students from 50+ nations every year at ISH is an international year“, explains Head of School Andreas Swoboda.
As part of the Fair, organizer Deutsche Stiftung Völkerverständigung will inform about its exchange scholarships with a total value of €300,000. To this end, each visitor will receive a free issue of the "Schüleraustausch International 2016“ (Student Exchange International) brochure.
