Max Krahé is a Fellow at THE NEW INSTITUTE; he works on political economy as well as economic history, and is particularly interested in the relationship between capitalism and democracy in Western modernity. He is also co-founder and research director of Dezernat Zukunft, a German think tank on macroeconomics. Throughout October, he will present the most important books in his life - those that inspire his academic work, but also the titles that have played a formative role in his "reading biography".
