Why, in times of easily accessible information, also given the risks of pandemic, and abusive behaviour within Buddhism, do we need a personal relationship with a spiritual mentor?

We have access to information and teachers who teach online. Why is that not sufficient? What is the specialness of a personal relationship?

With: Venerable Thubten Chodron is an American Tibetian Buddhist nun, author, teacher and the founder and abbess of Sravasti Abbey, the only Tibetian Buddhist training monastery for Western nuns and monks in the United States.
