ANMELDUNG ERFORDERLICH!
The EU and South American countries have been negotiating a trade agreement for 20 years. Described as historic by former EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, the so-called EU-Mercosur agreement is now threatened with failure.
What are the reasons for this situation and how can a failure be prevented? How should the EU deal with the balancing act between trade policy and fundamental European values? Can it counter the social and political crises in South America with its trade policy relations? What about Latin America‘s relations with other global players like China and the USA? Will the cards be reshuffled under US President Joe Biden? Are we on the verge of a necessary rethink and is it now time for more togetherness?
These and other current background questions on trade relations between the EU and Latin America will be in the focus of the event.
