Patrick Tagoe-Turkson, artist and senior lecturer at School of Applied Arts, Takoradi Polytechnic/Ghana

The presentation is about the used rubber sandals art project Tale within crossing in Takoradi/Ghana with rural-urban migrants who are shoe repairers. The collaborative art project which takes a look at the hidden side of the lives of shoe repairers will enable the migrants to share their stories, obtain psychological support, re-establish new relationships and most likely to help to realize our plan of building together a home out of used rubber sandals.

Patrick Tagoe-Turkson studied painting at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi/Ghana. Solo and group exhibitions in Ghana, South Korea, Romania, Austria and the USA. In the ort_m [migration memory] exhibition at Frappant Gallery in Hamburg the artist is showing the participative installation Tale within crossing: from rubber sandals to kiosk.

Die Ausstellung ort_m steht für Migration, Memorieren und Mittelmeer. Vom September bis Dezember 2015 arbeiteten geflüchtete Künstler_innen aus Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Syrien, Afghanistan, Libyen und dem Iran zusammen mit Hamburger Kunstschaffenden in Workshops. Gastkünstler_innen aus Lampedusa und Ghana sowie ein Begleitprogramm mit Kulturschaffenden aus Somalia, Eritrea, Italien, Schweden, Finnland und Hamburg machen ort_m zu einem Forum zu den Themen Flucht, Krieg, Terror, Lager sowie koloniale Vergangenheit und Kolonialismus in der Gegenwart.
